Annual General Meeting – Friends of Linton Church @ St Nicholas' Church, Linton
Mar 27 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

The Friends of Linton Church work behind the scenes, to make sure that the church is kept in good repair and is properly maintained. We are completely independent of the Church of England and separate from the church authorities and congregation, but we see St Nicholas’ Church as a lovely building which forms a central part of our village. We also feel it is fair that the cost of maintaining the church fabric should not fall entirely on the shoulders of the regular churchgoers, when we all benefit from having the traditional village centre of which St Nicholas is such an important part.

The Friends of Linton Church Annual Meeting will take place on this evening, in Linton Church. Why not come along and find out what we have been up to over the past year, and what is planned for the future? Please come along if you can.

This is a very worthwhile Linton Charity which is well worth supporting.. so please do help if you can. More details are here.

May 26 @ 10:30 am – 3:00 pm

The Linton Boundary Walk used to be a traditional annual event – the bounds were beaten every year as a matter of course. The ancient practice fell into disuse, but was revived by the Friends of Linton Church and has once again become a regular event for all the village.

This year 2019 marks the SIXTEENTH anniversary of the revived Boundary Walk! So do come along and enjoy the walk, the lovely countryside, the refreshments at the Stile Bridge and the Bull..  More details are here!

Grand Linton Litterpick! @ Church car park
Jun 1 @ 9:45 am – 12:00 pm

Grand Linton Litterpick!

Linton is a lovely, rural village and it is such a shame that it is disfigured by all the litter that thoughtless folk carelessly discard in our roads and country lanes.
In an effort to combat the litter Linton Parish Council has organised a series of litterpicks, which have now covered all of the roads in the Parish and many of the footpaths too. We have collected over 190 large bags of litter! A report of the last litterpick in March 2019 is available here.

We are going to have our sixth event on the morning of Saturday, 1st June 2019. It will cover the lanes both East and West of the A229, as well as Heath Road and the A229 Linton Hill itself.

– start at 10am prompt, from the Church car park.
– all necessary equipment will be provided
– a drink in the Bull afterwards
– the Borough Council will collect the litter bags

The event takes about two hours, a few volunteers may do a circular route from the starting point but most will be bussed to a starting point and then will walk back to the car park so we all finish there about 12 noon. Help (or a lift!) will be at hand if you need it, but you will be given full instructions .. no need get your hands dirty, or to lift fridges or other heavy items!

We get a lot of positive comments from volunteers – it is surprising just how satisfying it can be to fill a couple of bags with litter, and look back at a beautiful country lane that once again looks the way it should. If you are able to take part, please email Julie Urquhart.  The more volunteers we get, the easier the job becomes and the more clear it will be that we care about our village. Last time we had 21 helpers, let us see if we can beat that record next time!

We will continue to have more events at regular intervals in future  – so watch this space!

Some of the helpers at a recent litterpick, “grabbers” at the ready! . .

Important to get the paperwork straight .. if only we had someone who could do that!
